Mary Horrocks
Mary Horrocks’ work in the world of visual arts began as a graphic designer, also as a representative for commercial illustrators in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. She stepped away from commercial art to found and grow a natural foods company from 1995 to 2008. In 2009, returning to the world of visual art, she chose to work with fine artists and non-profit visual arts organizations. She served as Curator of Visual Art and Education for Boulder’s Dairy Arts Center for seven years. While at the Dairy, she also worked part time for three years as the project manager for the Longmont Studio Tour under Arts Longmont. Mary has curated over 200 art exhibits and has served as an application and awards juror for a variety of exhibitions, art fairs and art festivals along Colorado’s Front Range and for regional exhibits of the international fiber art guild, Studio Art Quilters Association. Leaving the Dairy in 2016, Mary studied art and cultural leadership at Colorado State University. She assumed her current position as Executive Director for Open Studios, Inc. in late 2018.
Mary’s own studio art practice focuses on fiber-based mixed media work. Recently, she has incorporated eco-printing and dying with botanical materials into this practice.
