This workshop will teach essential skills and techniques to create the look of realistic glass and metal in watercolor. Learn how to paint the translucent and reflective surfaces by preserving highlights, observing color changes, and including strong darks. Lorraine will also discuss and demonstrate color theory while walking through the steps of the painting.

Lorraine Watry
Lorraine Watry is a native of Colorado and a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She and her husband live in Colorado Springs, CO, where she maintains her studio. Lorraine is a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society and the 2024-2025 NWS President. She is also a Signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, American Women Artists, and other organizations. Lorraine is a juried member of the International Guild of Realism and the Society of Animal Artists. Lorraine’s paintings have been juried into many national and international exhibitions, including exhibitions across the United States, Italy, Canada, China, Taiwan, and Scotland. Lorraine teaches classes and workshops locally and across the US.

Lorraine will provide the materials list on or before July 15, 2026.
Lorraine will provide an instruction packet with the workshop reference photo, the drawing, and setup information for the painting. She will also include information on masking and stretching your watercolor paper.
