Join Jacque Michelle as you learn to paint the magical landscape of the Saguaro Desert. In her signature fun approach to teaching, you will learn to create a palette of color that brings the subject alive!
For our first warm up, we will paint a small close up of a beautiful flowering cacti.
Our main landscape focus will be on a larger canvas capturing the beauty of skies & clouds, mountains and cacti.

Jacque Michelle Bio
I have been a Boulder resident since 1984. At that time I opened my first retail store.
I’ve always been very interested in the visual arts
and used that enthusiasm to create a fun business: “Jacque Michelle” which was under my
ownership for 27 years.
Now I’m a full time artist and art teacher.
I’ve been successful in Open Studios for 12 seasons and have been in various other shows. I bring my love of color and painting to my students, helping them to create beautiful paintings with visual impact. I teach all levels at my beautiful studio at 3060 5th St. Boulder, Co.

Some of Jacque’s work:
Materials
- Photo References: I will provide photos for our smaller warmups and our larger canvases.
- Palette Knives: Bring a small, medium, large palette Knife with a pointy end. I like Richeson knives because they have good bounce action, but any work.
- Brushes: My favorites are Royal & Langnickle brushes & Snap (Guiry’s has both ). This brand: low prices, good action, excellent angled brushes.
- one inch, 3/4”, 1/2″, 1/4″….we’ll use both flats and angled brushes. Bring both! Okay to bring larger chip brushes for covering canvas.
- Bring a rigger brush and an assortment of tiny brushes for making the skinny thorns on cactus! The blade of angled brushes works here too.
- Mixed Media: Bring any type of chalk for drawing in your composition. Bring a set of Sharpie brand paint pens for mark making if you like(Amazon).
- Bring pastels if you like to add pastel mark to your pieces.
- Bring a small container of your favorite heavy body gel medium to help us really texturize our paintings. Matte or Gloss.
- palette paper for mixing on.
- Miscellaneous items: Paper towels, rags, apron, mister, water container
- Canvases: bring 2 x 8×8” or 10×10” canvas for warm ups. Bring 2 x 16×20 or 20×20” (or large squares) canvases for the main composition. Suggesting 2 so you can change your mind during workshop or start additional compositions. Never hurts to have a rectangle and a square for a workshop!
